Since 1947 in Verbier
Our story
Hotel de Verbier: Verbier’s Oldest Hotel Still in Operation
Nestled in the heart of the village on Place Centrale, Hotel de Verbier is an integral part of the resort’s history.
Built in 1947, it is the oldest family-run hotel still operating in Verbier. It has witnessed the village’s growth, from the quiet winters of a small mountain hamlet to the international renown it enjoys today.
At the time, Verbier had barely 27 year-round residents. The first ski lifts had just been installed, and the hotel welcomed the very first ski enthusiasts eager to discover the magic of the Valais Alps. Simple and authentic, the hotel already offered what travelers still seek today: warmth, conviviality, and comfort after a day in the mountains.
Over the decades, Hotel de Verbier has stayed true to its family spirit while supporting the village’s development. From generation to generation, it has preserved the charm of the past, with local wood, laughter by the fire, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere.
Elegant Renaissance
In 2020, the hotel underwent a complete transformation. Fully renovated and reimagined, it embraced an elegant renaissance: contemporary design inspired by Art Deco, natural materials, luxurious fabrics, and soft lighting that celebrates the mountains. This transformation seamlessly blends tradition and modernity while preserving the warm spirit that has defined the hotel for over seventy-five years.
Today, Hotel de Verbier embodies both the heritage of an authentic past and the comfort of refined modern living. Bridging memories of yesterday with the promises of tomorrow, it continues to welcome guests with the same generosity as when it first opened—a timeless place where every detail pays tribute to the mountains, tradition, and the art of hospitality.
